XU Bao, associate professor, head of guitar and saxophone teaching and research department at Sichuan Conservatory of Music, tutor of master’s degree, the 13th group of experts awarded by Sichuan Province for their outstanding contributions in their professional sectors. Prof. XU Bao is well known for his extraordinary teaching achievement, many students harvest a dream under his tuition, the most prominent among them, KUANG Junhong has held a recital at Carnegie Hall in New York and released an album of recital with Naxos Laureate Series. At age of 15, he was awarded a full scholarship from Peabody Institute in the U.S.A. for a further education of a undergraduate degree under Master Manuel Barrueco’s guidance. As well as QI Wenjun, who began the studies at age of 13 with Prof. XU Bao, was recommended when she was 20 years old by Prof. XU Bao to follow a further educations at United States, and 8 years later she successfully graduated with a Doctorate on classical guitar at University of Southern California in 2016, a first Chinese student who ever got a Doctorate on classical guitar.
In spite of his busy teaching program, Prof. XU Bao is often invited to give master classes, conferences as well as judge at the conservatories and festivals around the world, such as Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Britain, National conservatories of Detmold and Munster in Germany, The International guitar festival of Iserlohn in Germany, The International guitar festival Anna Amalia for young guitarists in Weimar Germany, the Munster guitar festival in Germany, the International guitar festival of Koblenz in Germany, The international guitar competition of Alessandria in Italy, The Spanish Alhambra International Guitar Competition, the Daejeon International guitar festival in Korea and the Thailand International guitar festival, etc.
